Youth Spirit young artists are continuing their work using art in community health education in 2012/13 with three new public art works scheduled for South Berkeley: 1) the traffic turn-a-round at Woolsey and Ellis Street; 2) 16 mosaic street barricades on Ashby Avenue between Shattuck and Telegraph Avenue; and, 3) the “Sweet Adeline” planter at 63rd and Adeline Street. Stay tuned for photo updates! This project led by YSA Apprentice Leader Elijah Mount-Finette includes beloved volunteer Priscilla Hine and students from the Berkeley High School Arts and Humanity Academy, Mumal Salim, Seiya Suzuki, and Jessical Gutierrez, as well as neighborhood residents. To contribute colorful tiles or broken plates to this effort call us at: 510-282-0396, or simply drop off contributions at our art studio at: 1769 Alcatraz Avenue, Berkeley.
