Celebrating the 100th Birthday of Frances H. Townes

On Saturday February 13, 2016 from Noon to 2:30, family and friends will gather at the First Congregational Church of Berkeley in celebration of Frances H Townes 100th Birthday!

This wonderful celebration will benefit one of Frances’ favorite charities, Youth Spirit Artworks, an interfaith “green” art jobs and job training program located in Berkeley, California which is committed to empowering homeless and low-income San Francisco Bay Area young people, ages 16-25.

Proceeds from tickets, gifts, and contributions will benefit the Frances H. Townes Mural and Bench. The funds will go toward a creation of a special Frances Townes Mosaic tile mural and bench at Youth Spirit Artworks. Longtime First Congregational church of Berkeley member and ceramic artist, Wesley Wright, is completing the tile, mural, and bench working with the leadership of seven YSA artists with community input this winter. To make a contribution you can donate via YSA’s website or mail a check made payable to YSA at 1740 Alcatraz Ave. Berkeley, CA 94703. Gifts in denominations of $100 are celebrated and encouraged.

Mediterranean cuisine prepared by the award winning chef, India Joze, will be served and the celebration will feature a Silent Auction including art from participants of Youth Spirit Artworks.
