Youth Spirit young artists are now selling their green, youth-made art Monday through Friday 3:30pm to 6pm via their “Art Cart” at the Berkeley Bowl–near Adeline & Oregon Street! Look for young people selling art tote bags, tee shirts, candles, mugs and other fantastic work daily. Help youth pay for college, vocational training, housing and other key living expenses through making amazing art and selling it! Art Saves Lives!!!!

June 17th Youth Spirit Artwork’s Summer Art Jobs Program Begins

Youth Spirit is delighted to be holding its 6th Summer Intensive Art Jobs Training Program this summer! Our stipended program begins Monday June 17th and runs Monday through Friday 10am to 6pm til August 16th. Youth, ages 16 to 25, can participate in our morning Art Studio program, 10am to 2pm, or our Afternoon Community Art Program, 2:30pm to 6:30pm. Youth Spirit Artwork will be holding our first ever Poetry Slam on Sat. Nov. 3rd at 4pm featuring the work of YSA young poets and artists. Youth Spirit’s Grow Healthy Tile Project Continues!!!!

Youth Spirit young artists are continuing their work using art in community health education in 2012/13 with three new public art works scheduled for South Berkeley: 1) the traffic turn-a-round at Woolsey and Ellis Street; 2) 16 mosaic street barricades on Ashby Avenue between Shattuck and Telegraph Avenue; and, 3) the “Sweet Adeline” planter at 63rd and Adeline Street. Stay tuned for photo updates! This project led by YSA Apprentice Leader Elijah Mount-Finette includes beloved volunteer Priscilla Hine and students from the Berkeley High School Arts and Humanity Academy, Mumal Salim, Seiya Suzuki, and Jessical Gutierrez, as well as neighborhood residents.
